Images to use for newspaper
After deep discussion with my peers and teacher, I have came to a final conclusion of what images I will use for my newspaper.
These images providing positive connotations and proximity included for the local people of Portsmouth.
All the images below have been taken with my phone, so the quality of my images will not be to a high standard. I will include both phone and Digital camera images.

Page two reseach
After gaining a greater understanding for the first front cover of the page, I decided to look through local newpapers' page 2. This consisted of a new story, weather and also the additional advert which could be in relation to the main story. By understanding how local newspapers create and design their page two layout, I will be able to incorporate this into my newspaper. I will now need to construct a flat plan and gather imagery to move forward toward the production of my newspaper.

First flat plan -
This flat plan is just a time to experiment with different types of colour schemes and layout for which I will design my newspaper. The placing of the adverts and image/headlines could all change but this rough idea helps give me a general idea of where it could go in relation to a local newspaper. I have ensure to follow the conventions and order of which a local newspaper is laid out, in this case 'The News'.
I followed the way its laid out to add to my research of the design of a local newspaper.
Chosen title
The final overall chosen title with the highest votes from my target audiences from ages 17 - 19 - this for a young modern look.
The final title was Spinnaker Post, here is what it will look like -

Newspaper title ideas
Now I have now decided with the font I will use for my newspaper, I feel that I now have to start creating different names for the title to ensure it stands out to my target audience, and taking into consideration that their is already a 'The News' in Portsmouth.
By creating a new but understandable title in relation to the newspapers, I will use the same website that I used when gathering data on newspapers ABC's - www.abc.org.uk - www.thebigproject.co.uk

Title Ideas
I created a sheet consisting of a various of different title ideas to hand around to people to see what font and format of words will be more appropriate for a local newspaper. The first three fonts, Which I thought would be more popular to people was 'Helvetica' - Such a font being normal, plain but also standing out will gain more attention. But with only 5 votes, this wasn't enough to be used as my title. Fourth one down which nobody chose was 'Asana Math' - This may have been a bit too plain with no attractive factors to it. Fifth one down, thick and close together is known as 'Bernard MT Condensed' this only had one person chose it, so as it was appealing to a small number, it wasn't enough to be used as my final title. Second to last we have basic but sophisticated 'Capitals' this gained the majority of the votes with 8 people strongly believing that this font is what is need to be used as a newspaper masthead.
Last of all we have 'Monotype Corsive' this gained no votes. It's italic look to it is overused and will not create a unique feel to my newspaper
Below you can see this is my final title design, so I shall use this and work with it and incorporate it to my newspaper. After working on using this font, Hopefully giving a positive feel and provide positive connotations to attract my audience.
